Child Sex Abuse 101: What Every Professional Should Know

2012 Professional Workshop

When: February 10, 2012 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Cost: $75, $50 for students with valid ID (lunch not included)

Summary: Looking at the prevalence of sexual abuse among children, every professional working with children on a regular basis will benefit from gaining an understanding of child sex abuse. This training will focus on the effects of trauma on children, the dynamics of infra-familial abuse, effective treatments models used in individual therapy, and methods for advocating for our young clients. Thsi workshop is ideal for new clinicians, DCS workers, school counselors, teachers and any professional interested in making a positive impact for child survivors of sexual abuse. Earn 3 hours CEU credit from the National Association of Social Workers —Tennessee Chapter (NASW-TN) and the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Cancellation: You must cancel 48 hours in advance of the workshop to receive a full refund. After 48 hours you will receive a half refund.

11th Annual Walk in Their Shoes

When: April 21, 2012 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. with the run beginning at 8 a.m. and the celebration walk at 9 a.m.

Where: S.A.C. - 101 French Landing Drive Nashville, 37228

Cost: $12/per walker $20/per runner. Children 12 and under are free

Summary: Join us for the 11th year for Walk in Their Shoes, an event to raise awareness about the issue of sexual assault and to raise funds to provide healing for victims of this crime. The event features an inspiring program, with presentations from survivors of sexual assault and those who dedicate their lives to healing and preventing violence. This Walk includes a display of the clothesline art project, music, refreshments, and MUCH MORE! The Walk in Their Shoes gives all people the opportunity to stand together and support the victims of violence. This type of united force turns shame into power, pain into resilience, and victims into survivors.
