Rachel Cook Freeman, LCSW

Rachel has been with SAC since 2001. She worked as a therapist with children, adolescents, and adults in individual and group therapy settings at SAC for 5 years, before assuming the position of Vice President of Clinical Services. Rachel received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and her Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Rachel is certified in Level I EMDR and has special training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, play therapy, and art therapy. Rachel is secretary of the Davidson County Community Advisory Board through the Department of Children’s Services, member of the Adolescent Sex Offender Task Force, member of the Children with Sexual Behavior Problems Committee through the Governor’s Office of Children’s Care Coordination, and a member of Montgomery County’s CPIT (Child Protective Investigative Team) management team. Rachel was the 2006 recipient of the award from Project Safe and the Vanderbilt’s Women’s Center honoring outstanding advocates in their efforts to decrease violence against women. She has also worked as an adjunct professor and field consultant at the University of Tennessee College of Social Work. Her primary responsibilities at the Sexual Assault Center are to direct and supervise all of the Clinical Services provided to clients.

Lori Myers, LCSW, and Registered Play Therapist

Lori has been with SAC since 2007. She has worked with a multitude of presenting problems, including sexual assault, aggression, grief, life transitions and school issues. Lori received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and her Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee.  Lori possesses specialized training in working with children, adolescents and families, with trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, sand therapy, art therapy, play therapy and narrative therapy. Lori currently sees children and adolescents as a clinical therapist and is the intern coordinator at the Sexual Assault Center.

Rosemary Cope, LPC/MHSP

Rosemary received her MA in clinical psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. In addition, she also has an MA from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Rosemary has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years serving as a counselor at the Vanderbilt University Counseling Center, a pastoral counselor, schizophrenia Research Assistant with the VA and Vanderbilt Medical Center research, and most recently as a senior mental health clinician with the Vanderbilt Community Mental Health Center. In addition, she has served 3 years on the Board of Directors of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute. She has many years of training and experience with trauma and dissociation, and works primarily with adults.

Char Creson, Ed.D.

Char has an EdD in Human Development Counseling, and Masters in Education in Health Promotions and Exercise Science. Dr. Creson's previous experience has been with women and addictions, and also with the corporate sector as a health promotion counselor. She is certified in EMDR, and while she works with all client groups; her primary focus is with adult rape victims and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Eric S. Fogle, LPC

Eric is a Senior Therapist in SAC’s Nashville’s office. Eric began working for the center in 1993. He has experience with working in rural mental health, family counseling focused on teenage issues as well as a foster care agency. He currently provides therapy for all client types at the SAC, specializing in the treatment of child, adolescent, and adult survivors of rape, sexual assault, abuse and trauma. Eric also has received specialized training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Level 1.

Brianna Grant, LCSW

Brianna graduated from the University of Kentucky with an undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2002. Following graduation, she worked in community mental health centers, specializing in working with children, adolescents and their families. Brianna completed her clinical internship with the SAC and received her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 2008. Prior to returning to the SAC in 2010, Brianna provided therapy and mental health services for children, adolescents and families in Atlanta, Georgia. Brianna has received specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR- Level II), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Play therapy and Sand Tray Therapy. Brianna is currently working towards gaining her registered play therapy certification (RPT).

Lisa Lyons, LCSW

Lisa specializes in working with adult men and women abused as children. She also works with those who have been raped, are non-offending parents, as well as with adolescents. She has a certification in the “mind body” connection and incorporates body healing with the healing of emotions and spirit. Lisa is certified in EMDR Level II and Hypnotherapy.

Libby Mather, LCSW

Libby has been working for the Sexual Assault Center since August 2008.  Libby received her B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1998.  She received an M.S.W. from Boston University in 2000, where she specialized in clinical work with children and adolescents.  Prior to her work at the Sexual Assault Center, Libby worked extensively with children in treatment foster care, as well as with their foster families.  Libby has received specialized training in trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, treating children with sexual behavior problems, and EMDR (Level 2).   She has also received trauma-specific training, as presented by the Jean Baker Miller Training Institute and The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children.

Rachel McRoberts, LPC, NCC

Rachel has worked most extensively with children and non-offending parents who have experienced sexual abuse and attachment disruption, with related disorders such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She has specialized training in evidence based Play Therapy, Level 2 EMDR, hypnosis, Rapid Trauma Resolution, as well as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).Her expertise has assisted in the implementation of art and play therapy programs in several foster care and mental health agencies. 

Tavianna Renier, LMSW

Tavianna graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2003 with a BA in Psychology. After graduation, she worked in community mental health, specializing in working with children, adolescents and their families from 2004-2009. She completed her clinical internship with the SAC in 2009 in pursuit of a Masters in Social Work. She graduated in May 2009 from the University of Tennessee with an MSW and recently received her LMSW. She is working toward LCSW. She has training in trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy. Shework with clients of all ages.

Becky Russell, LPC/MHSP

Becky received her M.Ed. in counseling from The University of Mississippi. Becky has worked in the mental health field for over 18 years, serving in many different capacities, including Case Manager, Behavior Specialist, Outpatient Therapist/Counselor, and Behavior Research Clinician/Consultant.  Most recently, prior to her work at the Sexual Assault Center, Becky assisted with the curriculum development and implementation of an intensive social skills/behavior modification program that is currently being utilized in some elementary schools. She has received specialized training in behavior modification (CBT model), play therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.  Becky works with all client groups, and specializes in work with children and parents.

Amber Stevenson, LCSW, LADAC

Amber received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University in NYC. Amber has worked in the counseling field for over 5 years, with a primary focus on providing therapy in the areas of trauma and addictions. Prior to her work at the Sexual Assault Center, Amber has provided group and individual counseling in correctional facilities, drug courts, and domestic violence/ sexual assault agencies in the community. She has received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused-vCognitive Behavioral Therapy and Behavior Modification. Amber specializes in working with adult women and adolescents.

Rebekah Zahurones, LCSW

Rebekah received her BSW undergraduate degree from MTSU and her MSSW degree from University of Tennessee. She specializes in the treatment of child, adolescent, and adult survivors of rape, sexual assault, abuse and trauma, and has received specialized training in EMDR (level 2), play therapy, dissociation, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Emily Johnson, LMSW

Emily received her bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology from Belmont University in 2006 and earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee in May 2009. Emily, an LMSW, completed a clinical internship working with veterans at the V.A. Hospital in Nashville and has post graduate experience in inpatient psychiatric care. Emily’s primary role at SAC is assisting clients during the intake process, and she is available to answer questions relating to the services offered by SAC.

Eve received a masters degree in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University in 2010. As the Victim Advocate, Eve works with victims of sexual assault to protect their rights, assist them in legal proceedings and help them to access programs and services to meet their needs. She also provides trainings related to sexual assault, elder abuse, legal issues and remedies, and ethical practices to various groups of professionals, students, and community agencies.

Amanda Markham

Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Austin Peay State University. Amanda manages the crisis line and crisis line volunteers, helps with clinical reporting for grants, and manages numerous clinical projects. Amanda worked as an Education Manager at SAC for 4 years prior to joining the Clinical Team as Clinical Projects Manager.
